Is my student eligible?
- This is a refundable tax credit for parents of students enrolled in or assigned to a failing K-12 public school to offset the cost of transferring the student to a non-failing public or nonpublic school of the parents’ choice.
- To see if your child’s school is considered a “priority school,” check the Alabama State Department of Education’s school report card page and whether your student’s current school received a “D” or “F” on the latest report card.
- Family income cannot exceed 250% of the federal poverty level, or $82,500 for a family of four in 2026.
To receive the tax credit:
- Parents will need to submit the student transfer form with their state tax return to the Alabama Department of Revenue to request this tax credit.
